Jaymie

I don't know of any local place to buy uniseals, I have bought them from aquatic eco in the past. I think I have a few in my plumbing bin in the garage. What size are you looking for?

btw, how are those corals doing?

hey jeff, thats where ive bought them in the past, was going to use the uniseals, but i ended up finding some bulkheads that will work for me.

the corals are doing great. love the blastos. they look all cute next to my large colony i have lol.hoping they take off on growth, ordered one of those squirts so i can start target feeding my lps.
anyhow thanks again!

still looking for a big bucket, but if not, the 5 gal will do.

like open top round buckets or water jugs? I have like 5 blue 7gl water jugs with valves and handles for storing water i got from walmart or k mart.

hey ryan, trying to find open top ones. just like the 5 gallon buckets for salt, just a bit taller.

going to be making a RDSB this weekend, to polish off any little bit of nitrates i do have in my system.

the 5 gal would work, but the deeper the better.

its VERY simple, just need a 5 gal bucket, either 2 bulkheads or uniseals, most people do 3/4" inlet, 1" output. fill the bucket till about 3-4" from the top with sand. feed the bucket to get about 200-250gph through it, and the output gravity fed back into the sump.

its worked WONDERS on so many tanks, and it cost barely anything to employ.
My nitrates are about 1-2, but im hoping this bucket polishes it off completley.

I am doing the exact same thing this weekend or maybe Monday.

I just picked up two bulkheads from Exotic Aquatic this afternoon for it.

Instead of a bucket, though, I am usging an 18 gallon sterilite tub from Target. I was going to use a 13 gallon kitchen trashcan but it is 1 inch too tall, so I am going to take it back.

The door to the stand is 22 inches tall and my sump is 17 inches tall, and the container is 15 inches tall with a 3/4 inch lip. I'm going to build a frame from a 2x4 to lift it up 4 inches so that the return pipe will clear the top of the sump.

This is a gravity drain. The input is from a T off my return pump. I'm using silica play sand from Lowes. I've got about 60 pounds already, so i need another bag or two.

This is NOT a great drawing but it will show you how it works. The return pipe should actually be about 2-3 inches above the surface of the sandbed.

I'm also hoping to get the stand for my refugiums built this week while I am on vacation.
