Need more info than that. Which standard lens?? Pics of what?? Do you know about f-stop?? ISO?? Shutter speed?? How about posting one of your pics??

Read the stickies at the top. That will give you alot of the basics.

I'm using the Nikon DX AF-S NIKKOR 18-135mm lens.

I'm trying to get good pics of my fish and corals...I just don't think I can with this lens. I can't focus when I'm in close and I can't get the colors to "pop" either.

I do know some of the basincs...ISo, shutter speed, f-stop, etc. No where near advanced though!!

To get the really close ups you see alot of here, you really need a good macro lens or micro lens in Nikon terms. This allows you to focus is close. You also need a good tripod and most use a remote shutter release.

Do read the stickies above. They get into settings and changing the white balance in a software program afterwards. You can still take pics and learn, just not up close.
