Anyone here drill tanks? "DSM area"

I need a one or two holes drilled in a 29, Just wondering if any members that are close by have the tools to do it?
If not does anyone know a place to buy a cheap bit so I can drill my own?

I'm interested in this too - as i need 3 holes in the back of my 40 gallon (which i'm trying to determine if its tempered or not without much luck...O'dell aquarium)
 
those will work but your not gonna get a very big hole with them. i drilled my 75 gal. tank with ease using a diamond bit hole saw i got shipped from hong kong. this guy sells them cheap and can get any size you need. just ask him. just remember diff. bulkheads may need diff. size holes (a 1 1/2" bulkhead from fosters will need a 60mm bit where as a 1 1/2" bulkhead from savako may need a diff. size hole) so find out first what size hole you need first.

diamond hole saws are for people who KNOW how to drill glass properly, I would use the dremel but it's not my tank.
 
when i drilled my 75 gal. that was the very 1st time i have ever drilled glass. heck i never even cut glass before. the main thing is to keep the bit cool with water, only use the weight of the drill for the pressure, and go slow. i tried the whole dremel thing and that was far worse for me (broke the glass) but that is just my opinion
 
glaspie69 just drilled my tank a few weeks ago. His dremel technique worked pretty slick. He just used a garden hose and a dremel.
 
The problem is I don't have a dremel or the right bit whatever it may be? Care to share what dremel bit you use? And where you bought it?

I do have an air die grinder that if the bit fits would work.

It's a tile removal bit, you can buy it at menards, lowes, etc. I'm not sure how Kau drilled his with a dremel but I've done about 30 holes and never came close to breaking one.....no offense Kau. I've just not heard of too many happy endings when it comes to diamond hole saws
 
I've never had a problem with diamond hole saws, nor do I think anyone could if they have plenty of two things: water on the bit, and patience.
 
OH! Sorry, I forgot about the tile bits. The diamond dremel bits are like $17/apiece, the diamond holesaws are around $5 shipped (at least the ones I purchased), I have no idea what the tile bits cost. Totally my mistake.

I hope it doesn't come down to that if it does that means I broke two 29's first, I have two now and will drill a test hole in a 10 gallon first,
glaspie69 are the bits in the link I posted above the same as what your using?
