Anyone in IT/Need help to keep this hobby

All,

Is there anyone here that is an IT manager or IT recruiter? I am having one heck of a hard time finding a job. I have been trying for 3 months to find a job while I am still in NY. My wife and kid moved down on July. I have tried TBO.com, DICE, and Monster but it seems that desktop support/server and Windows Admin is not such a great thing in Tampa. I was hoping to finally move down in November with a job. The wife has a great job already but that won't help me out with this expensive hobby. I am starting to worry that moving to Tampa was a mistake. Any suggestions are appreciated. I thought that with 9 year under my belt, it was going to be easier then this.

Thanks,
ZC

Try API and Siwel to find you a job, also look and see if Verizon, Sykes or IBM is hiring in Tampa.

I will check with a friend of mine that actually workd for Siwel now and see what he has to say.

Wow. That was fast. Thank you. Any help is greatly appreciated. I would love to continue my expensive hobby.

check out usajobs.com too it is all the government jobs in the country and you can pick cities to look in or just through out the state

Try Florida Medical Clinic. That is where I work and we just lost a great guy who decided to become a teacher. The best in our IT department.

Tampa is a growing city. We have had major growth and there are plenty of jobs with this growth. I know you said your wife and children were already down here. Take the leap of faith. Come on down. You will be face to face and that makes it easier. I don't think you get jobs from internet searchs.

I switched careers a couple years ago. I ended up getting my profession by going to a party and just mentioned I was looking for a different carear. That ended up with me taking my present job and I love it.

Also, check out the Hillsborough County employement offices. I don't know how they are, but the ones in Pinellas are great. They even have programs with speakser from Dale-Carngey and the like.

Good luck

I know exactly what you mean and not to make the situation negative..but I was laid off back in March for three months and never found anything in IT...I had a about four recruiters from different places and found nothing. There were a couple if inquiries but that nothing that fit...Finally i had an ex co-worker call me up and got me a job right away for T-Mobile working for there CCT operations dept...Great company and excellent benefits...needless to say a cheap phone bill..and people that have T-Mobile service pay for my hobby!! ha! I'll keep my eyes and ears open or you can go to there site t-mobile.com...Also, try kforce.com...roberthalftechnology.com...vereduscorp.com..just to a name few recruiting places...

All,

Thank you very much for the help. I have submitted my resume to all the PM's as well as all the site's suggested. I am getting more calls this time around. I will keep you all posted.

Thanks,
ZC

P.S. It's seems I might be able to keep the hobby going :-).

Bigzman, have you tried the Hard Rock Casino?? I know they hired some IT personel for their new night shift...it might be worth a shot.

Don Lino,

I applied to the hard rock. They had a spot for a network admin.

Thank you very much for that one.

I noticed that the shift part is TBD. I love night shifts :-) .

Regards,
ZC

You Welcome, Im also a night shift person...So did u accept the position?? I also work their, thats why..

It sounds like you're already in town...If you are, there is a tech social held periodically (they try to do it monthly but usually ends up being every 2 or 3 months) over at the International Mall. It's an informal meet and greet type of thing. I know the guy who organizes it. If you want to check it out, here's the website.
