Getting ready to buy a GC tank. I'm not impressed with their covers for the overflows at all. I'm curious if anyone in the club can make them that is properly setup with routers and jigs?

I actually wasn't kidding. Jenn's turned out pretty good. It doesn't have slots at the top, but you can't see the top, so it doesn't matter. I used eggcrate siliconed to the top of the weir for the guards. So far so good. The second one I made wasn't as nice, but is at least functional (frag tank, not display).
Adjust the sheet to the correct height in the vise (I use a project table that folds up, but scissors apart in the middle to act like a vise-$2 at a garage sale). Heat the back of it for a while in sweeping patterns along the length of the vise/sheet, while gently pulling down until it gives and you can pull just past 90. 20 minutes, max.
aquamann, I don't like the teeth cut with a saw blade. If I'm gonna see them below the water, I want them to look nice (more professional) else I don't want to see them at all. Especially when you're spending $1300 on something. The devil is in the details....thats also why I'm questioning the quality of black silicone seams. I'm going to expect them to be taped off and then the tape pulled so the lines are extremely straight.
I'm expecting a call from Tim later today to discuss the silicone concern. I might be able to deal with the overfllows though. However, routed edges and teeth would look nicer.
Ryan Tom is one of the nicest guys I know on the phone just call him up and demand for him to do things your way or you wont give him your business. I am sure he will think the customer is always right and fix your tank for you right away. :lmao:
