I'm in way over my head, I figured it would be somewhat easier than what it is and require less time. I guess I'm not around as much as I need to be, but I dont want to hurt the livestock I have now so I'm considering giving it up. I have a 14 biocube with 20lb sand and 15lb figi and branch rock. cleaner shrimp, 2 turbo snails, feather duster and a hurt star fish. Tank is fully cycled and only 1 month old. it is the dx model I think which has the 2 lights(10k and actinic 50/50) plus the 2 led lunar lights. I have the original box it came in, plus all the paperwork. If anyone is interested please give me a PM or email me at mattsworld_06@hotmail.com. I live close to USF and even closer to bush/50th. I would prefer you pick up.

I'm not really giving up, its just I can't afford to put anymore cash into it right now, and I can't stop thinking about buying more stuff for it...lol. I really dont have the time for it right now, and definately wont here in the next couple weeks. I'm taking 18hrs next semester and tuition is going to hurt..lol.

I would like to get 250 for everything, including all the rock/sand/livestock. It is negotiable though. I prolly have around 500 in it so far. I have 2 5gal jugs of saltwater too.

let me know

If you have a high bioload it's very time consuming, if you have a low bioload you don't have to do much of anything but occasional water changes. I had a 2.5g pico in my bedroom with LPS, softies, and a 1 inch goby for a year that I never even fed... just water changes once a week or two. Starfish are sensitive in my experience though. Also, part of why I have a reef tank is just to have something to stare at and relax when I'm burned out on programming all day...like studying. Did I talk you into it? Good luck either way ;-)

Do yourself a favor. Keep it simple, salty. KISS. Take a cheap 3-gallon bucket and mix up some saltwater with a cheap air stone bubbler. Let mixture sit and bubble until weekend. Using another 3-gallon bucket, vacuum out the bottom of the tank. Swap old water for new. Make new saltwater. Let new mixture sit and bubble until weekend. Repeat.

With 20% of the water changed weekly your tank will thrive and be easy to maintain. A tank that is 6 months old is just begining to settle down and get established. Don’t give up now! Plan to add only one new inhabitant per month. Go slow and keep swapping water.

yea I understand that, but I would still be dropping a ton of cash on it. I had planned to just buy the saltwater at 70c a gallon. 10gallons every 2 weeks, 5 gallon weekly changes. If I didn't I would have to buy a ro/di unit, refrac....etc. I know I still need a refrac but I've been winging it with the bought water and distilled water for topoffs. I still have another 2 hundred to spend to get the rest of the stuff I need. Just can't do it right now
