I am getting a 3" Crocea from Clams Direct tomorrow. I really don't know if I have a spot on my rock work for him, I have alot of SPS frags everywhere:rolleyes: I was wondering if anyone keeps there crocea happy on the sandbed? Of course I will place something under him;)

I have something like 5 croceas on the sand along with 6 maximas, as well as some in the rocks. All seem to be doing well.
I also feed DTs and KoralVit F (thanks, Barry!!!).

If you're going to have maximas or croceas on the bottom of the tank, you need to have the light power to do it, and I think you should be ok with your 14K DEs...

I think crocea's will be fine on the bottom however I have noticed that some adapt better if they are given something to attach to. If you don't like the idea of burying a rock underneath them I would suggest a small ceramic tile with the rough side up. I had couple that seemed to respond very well that way, not to mention they are attached and still 100% mobile. Just my 2 cents.

Hey, try an old clam half-shell underheath. They'll really wnat to attach to something & they'll use up less energy too. Croceas will exude their acidic goo out the bottom & slowly eat thru whatever you attach them too, but they really will hop around & be grumpy in sand. No matter what you dont want to let them hook onto the bottom glass & they can reach down thru 2" of sand easy when they're 4" in length.
