Tomorrow I’ll be getting my first clam in over 20 years of keeping reefs - tridacna squamosina
So, a little help needed please 🙏

1. Where should I place it ( maxspect r6 light , 8 years old)
2. It’s about 5cm so will it require food?
3. If I place it on the sand will it move and climb the rocks for more light?
4 ideal water params 5 flow rate

That’s all for now, thanks in advance

1. I would place it midway up the rock work, that's just my opinion ;)
2. That size, you shouldn't need to feed it. I have a T. Maxima that is only about 3 cm and I have not fed it once and it's doing great.
3. I've never seen at Tridacna species climb up rockwork. If you want to start it lower in the tank, you could place a piece of rock on the sand and put the clam on that.
4. Water parameters should mimic what you would do for stony corals.
5. Same as 4.

Hey griss how you been?
Took a while for your 2 cents 😂
Definitely going with the cradle , I suppose if some say sand and some say top, halfway could be a good start 👍
You got a pic of your clam?
