Anyone keep Trimma Gobies? Or Eviota?

I'm not sure if I can say I kept them. I added them to my tank... They vanished. Then 6 months later an Eviota appeared. It was out for 3-4 days and then vanished. About a month later a Trimma appeared in a colony of xenia. Was visible for a day and then vanished again.....

Not sure if I would call it keeping. This is in a 400g tank with a bunch of fish, they can clearly live, but they aren't real visible in my tank.

Lol! First thought that came to my mind when I read this is that if you are playing hide n seek with the poor fella / fish is that you had him count to a seriously high number.... :spin2:

I had a couple of trimmas in a smaller tank. They have short lives. Some of them only live a year in the wild, I think most of them don't live past three from what I've read. They need passive tank mates, and may hide in your rocks if you have lots of caves.

They are pretty fish though. The smaller Caribbean gobies seem to live a bit longer.

What a burn! You are right, the lives are extremely short. Considering we have no idea how old they are when we buy them, they could die of old age before they are out of quarantine.

I have/had had many different trimmas and eviotas and most everyone has it correct. They prefer peaceful tankmates and they do not have long lifespans. I think my oldest is 2 years or so. I keep them in large groups and replace them as necessary. Most are not very expensive so it not a big expense.

Cool little fish for small systems. You can also purchase a few captive bred eviota species to have them for the most amount of time possible in your aquarium.
