Anyone Keeping Magnificents?

Anyone succesfully keeping Magnificent Sea Anemones? If so pics would be awesome. What kind of lighting and current do you have?

Yeah, have had mine for years. I have mine under 6 T-5 HO, although in the past have had them under pc's and MH. My current is provided by a Tunze with a controller that is supposed to mimic the surge of waves. I suppose they are happy with the current because they never move.

Here are a few pics I just snapped:

You, that is a pic of an H. mag that I've had for 6 years. I have posted pics of that anemone before and there are pics in my gallery, although very small in size.

Happy, I'm a terrible photographer, but there are some pics. There are other nice pics of H. magnificas posted a couple of months ago by a thread I started also.

And for anyone reading this thread, these pics are exclusively Heteractis magnifica (common name ritterie). I do have Entacmea quadricolor (RBTA's), but none of these pics are of that species. I suppose GSM was either kidding or mistaken, but just to remove any confusion. Anemone identification can be confusing, especially through pictures and for beginners, so I just want to provide clarification rather than contributing to misinformation.

Its absolutely beautiful and magnificent and I was totally joking.

Certainly looks like a ritteri anenome from the pics. Definitely not a BTA. I think that was a joke...I hope it was a joke. Very nice nem. Congratulations. They are certainly one of the harder nems to keep...and for 6 years. That is an accomplishment.

I guess I made my point, but again, in an area (anemone identification) where there is so much confusion, why contribute to more?

Thanks Patrick. I had two originally, and now I have four. My two original specimens split in November of 2006.

Although I was lucky to get healthy ones to begin with, they are definitely not the easiest things to keep. As pretty as they are, I sometimes think I prefer my RBTA's because they require so much less attention.
