Anyone Keeping Triggers With Clams?

Hey GUys,
i was wondering if there is anyone out there keeping triggers in their clam tank?

I had a Sargassum for a time. All of the sudden he grew an appetite for inverts and ate a baby Crocea that I had. Triggers are not good with clams IME.

I had a blue throat trigger in with clams until I set up a clam only tank. We have not had any problems with the trigger in our reef.

i can understand them eatign small clams but not large ones. I have seen pics of niger triggers in reef tanks with clams but i knw these triggers are one of the safest.

Once they get a taste for live invert it becomes a crap shoot. You're probably right though...Bigger clams are less threatened.

is the same thing with large harlequin tusks they will go after small clams, but i guess is natural big fish small animal.

I have not done it but would like to - I love triggers as much as clams. If you can afford one I have heard cross hatch triggers (Xanthichthys mento) work well with corals and inverts since they are plankton feeders and have heard that Pink-tails (Melichthys vidua) go well in reefs in general. I have heard of someone keeping a cross hatch trigger in a large reef where the trigger was kind of the pinnacle - kept it like that for years and as far as I know the tank and fish are both still kicking. I have a FOWLR trigger tank and a reef - so one of these days I am going to get a trigger and toss him in the reef and if he doesn't work - he will make a fine new addition to my trigger tank :)

I hava a 240 gallon clam/sps tank with three triggers - bluejaw, sargassum and trigger. Clams range from 2 inches to a 15 inch Derasa. Have had them together for 2 years with no problems.

Yes - I would love to see that.

by the way, Julio, Crosshatch triggers are very, very, very expensive(like $400-$500 expensive) - significantly more than even clown triggers.
