Anyone know how to frag a pectinia?

I was thinking of fragging my pectinia but I have little experience in fragging. What tools do I need, where/how to cut it. Any other info of what I can do to make a few healthy pectinia frags would be great. After care? Thanks.

I think you'd probably need either a dremel with a diamond saw blade or a bandsaw. You may be able to pull it off with coral shears (from the manicure section at any drugstore) but it would be a pretty nasty cut on the coral. For aftercare you want low to moderate flow in order to keep it from sliming and getting infected.

I think bandsaw would be best. Or dremel. I would leave some good size to the frags especially if it's a fleshy version of pectinia. That alien eye pectinia seems like it would be easier to frag than whatever mine is, just because mine is very fleshy. I know whoever cut mine used a bandsaw and it mostly all died off but the small portion that lived did well and you'd never know where it was cut now, about 8 months later.

these are the the two pectinia's I have. I am thinking of fragging one of them. Does anyone know what kind of pectinia they are?

You could cut any one of those spines off and superglue the cut side down on a frag plug or some rubble easily. I would not break out a saw for that. Its should be an easy snip.

+1, with those you can just break one off with whatever.
