just thinking about buying one. is it louder than the dart? if it is how loud is it?

little bit louder

Oh yeah, these pumps handle pressure a little better but be warned, you should not reduce the intake and reducing the output will again reduce the flow, A LOT....

is it just like a low hmm? if i were 5 ft from the tank, would I hear it? and why is the other motor better than the hubble?

motor noise depends on how you have it plumbed. IMO, your going to hear it 5 ft from the tank in the best conditions.

I've been working with motors that drive pumps like we use for 25 years. 95% of the motor we use are Baldor, there just a better quality motor. Hubble's are also a good motor and I've had no problems with any that I've used. I just feel Baldor's are better.

lol Mike that is WAY to much pump for what you want... the dart is perfect for a closed loop....

not when you factor in the 400 watts it uses 24hours a day!

Then you realize why people can't give away the barracudas!

The darts are whisper silent, I used little mousepad feet under the pump to totally silence it =)

Remember that these pumps all have their places. There's a reason these pumps have different watt ratings. The problems is most people don't have a clue. The flow charts shown on ALL web sites are not very accurate because they don't consider pipe size.

IMO, the Dart is a very good pump as long as you don't reduce. I've always been a huge closed loop fan, unilt I started using Tunze's and MJ mods. I doubt I'd ever setup another CL.

BTW, I have an old Amp Master 3000 with brand new seals for sale too...135.00:lol:

I got a Barracuda on my 210 and it is LOUD! I hate that thing.

I run one now and at one time ran two on my 120 sps tank...The one sitting on the bottom of the base of the stand could be heard when the house was dead. It was no where near setup right. The other (only one I'm using now) is sitting on a piece of carpet on a cement floor and is very close to the noise my AM3K made.

I agree with Mark, the darts work great if you keep them plumbed with the correct diameter pipes (2" intake & 1.5" output) all the way to the nozzles. If you restrict them before the nozzles by branching into 3/4" or something you will wish you had the pressure capabilities of the barracuda.

Also-tunzees are pretty nice, just soooooo darn huge! I still can't bring myself to add my other 6000 to my tank =)

Hmmmm, just what do you mean by "nozzles"? remember, 15 half inch nozzels are not equal to a single 1.5" pipe...no no no;)
