anyone know the quality of glass cages?

They are coming for a reptile show in March and was wondering what the quality of their acrylic tanks are like. I know there has been many discussions about their glass tanks but I don't remember reading anything about the acrylic.

Thanks in advance

Talk to Lonnie he's on his 2nd(at least) one from them. Griss has his old one but I'm not sure if it has water in it yet. He might be joining the nanook club.

My understanding on the glass tanks is good, mostly overbuilt but sloppy and the acrylic is NOT overbuilt to the same sloppy standards. If getting something from them, get glass not acrylic. They basically have no warranty or a true limited lifetime warranty they will warrant the product for the life of the product. If the product fails, the warranty is void. lol Get the glass from them and you will be fine but avoid the acrylic.

Jack is exactly right! I bought an acrylic 135..NEVER AGAIN! But, my glass 240 is an excellent tank. I've had it almost 4 years and not a problem. Just get some good razor blades to clean up the sloppy silicone job and you'll be fine. I did order mine without the cheap looking black plastic frame too. I'd recommend them to you.

I really like the Glass tanks. I have heard poor things about the acrylic, but cannot say for sure, because I have never seen one.

Like Roy said I'm on my 2nd glass tank from them. I would have never sold my old tank, but I moved and it would not fit at the new house. or at least at the time that is what I thought :(.. Wish I had it now.

My first tank was a lot more sloppy with the silicone but nothing a razor blade did not take care of in less than 5 min's.. The 2nd one I have not hit yet with a razor blade.

You are more than welcome to stop by and see the tank, just let me know when.

Also there are quite a few Glasscages tanks here in St. Louis.. I have not heard of anyone here that has had a problem with the tank.

k i know this wasn't my thread, but i was all about to get a acrylic from them.
i think i'll switch it to glass and save a few bucks.
but we have to see what uncle sam says.

Stupidsreef is planning a 5'x3'x24" or a 6'x3'x24" from them, either way I cannot wait to see the 3' width on the tank..

Yeah, the tank I bought from Lonnie is VERY overbuilt.

No Roy, it doesn't have water yet, but I am getting closer. The stand is built, the tank is on the stand and I am painting the back of it black.

Now, I need to pick up a couple rubbermaids (fuge 70g and sump 150g) and plumb them. Then, I need about 360 lbs of Aragamax. So, I might just have set up a second tank before Nook's tanks even get a drop of water:D

George...I know for a fact he goes by the tanks each day with a water dropper just so he can say the tanks have seen a drop of water. :D

I bought 2 45g's and a 55g in glass, about six months in use i noticed both of the 45's had developed a leak. I contacted him and got nothing but a recital of the non existant warranty and a rude attitude ta top it off..... this was after around 6-7 tanks and 3-4 years of patronage. I got a 100 gallon in acrylic once and was very disapointed in the quality after i recieved it never expected it to be built into a black plastic frame(not removeable) and the seams just flooded with weld-on 16 also the 2 front corners were radiuses, a nice touch but the black frame around it was square! Although it was a good price i guess ya get what you pay for .....

That sucks!! Are the 45's repairable.. I know that is not your problem but someone might be able to make something work with them..

How long had they been setup, the whole 6 months?

I've had good luck with my 180,alittle over kill with silicone but I would rather clean off some than try and find a leak.

Oh yeah they are in use now it was just a bad silicone job, i had em scraped and resealed pronto cause i NEEDED them. Yes the tanks were setup about six months i think the glass must have not been clean in a few spots and the silicone didnt stick, there were a few spots that just pulled right out by hand in one solid piece.

I bought a custom build 45 gallon glas tank and 30 gallon acrylic tank from them just 2 months ago. I droke down and picked up at their factory which was an interesting place. The tank is sloppy but solid an no leaks so far.

Scbadiver's 240 has proved to be well constructed. He probably tested glass cages as well as they have been in the design of the tank with the center overflow.

The acrylic sump, however, left something to be desired. The bowing of the sump was a major turn off.

I drilled the sumps, plumbed the tanks and filled them today!!!!

NOT!!! :mixed:

I have the back of the tank painted and Stockman Standpipes in my overflow now and a 100 gallon Rubbermaid for the sump. Once, I get my fuge figured out, plumbing will begin.
