Anyone know what this algae is? ?

had small growths of this before but never one this big? Maby its a sponge or some coral? Any one any ideas?

Did you ever have a orange nepthea coral...or "carnation" coral?

Swear it looks like baby orange dendro...does it open up sometimes, then close when you poke it?

Sometimes when these die in the tank they spread branches everywhere to become little babies...much hardier than the adult.

If it doesn't open and close, and instead reacts as an algae (doesn't react) I will guess again, lol!

Iv got a orange carnation but it doesn't have the same look or consistency, its look more like a lobo that I have .it doesn't react to light or touch and under the blues its literally luminous orange?

I'm guessing an algae, then. Hmm. You have me stumped as to what kind, though! Going to have to give a macro buff a go at this one...following!

This would be my guess. The color will vary under different lights.

Not an alga. Looks like a soft coral. A better picture of the stalk would help.

+1...really looks like a dendro of some kind. Source of LR, maybe?

What does it feel like to the touch? If it is algae, it should feel kind of rubbery, but if it's something like a dendro it should be very abrasive. There's not a whole lot of soft corals out there with that type of coloration either. JMO.

That is similar to a carnation coral. If so thats a sweet find
