Anyone know what this purple gook is

on my rock? (Not the coralline algae)

The tanks been running for a month now--might start to add stuff in another month or so. Want to make sure the water is stable before I add anything else. Wouldn't want anything dying on my watch.

Oh--and I added a picture of the gorilla crab that I can't catch. Ain't he handsome?

I caught my 3rd Gorilla crab just last night, he was munching on some polyps...

There is another crab in a hole in a rock I can't get to but I don't think he's a gorilla, looks like he has no hair and is reddish. Maybe a porcelin crab...

The good news is my tank reached .25ppm Ammonia yesterday and still falling. Looks like it's almost time to call for the second half of the package.

Hard to tell from the pics, could it just be sponge?

I like that shaving brush plant, did that come as part of your package or purchased seperately? Your tank looks nice!

I found it inside the second part of my package--that, the condy anemone and the flower anemone. Someone must of snuck them in the box...

It's not sponge--it looks like some kind of algae. The critters don't eat it. Hope it goes away in time...

How's your tank doing, Howard?

Thanks for the kind word on mine...

I also have some of that purple stuff. The one sprout I have is growing incredibly fast. I kinda like it, but seeing your pics I am afraid its going to get out of hand. My guess is that its some sort of red algae. I read somewhere that a tang will eat it all up in a matter of days.

Cool--thanks for that info. But a Tang won't work in this tank. It's only a 20g. When the water is right and stable I am getting a small Clown and a Royal Gramma. That's it--and more coral--lots of coral. Zoos, shrooms, toadstool, xenia, brain...

My tank is doing just great Wazoo. Cycling completed in 10 days, and now I'm seeing just a bit of green hair algae and brown slime on the back glass.

I still have to get that other darned mantis outa there before I get the second 1/2 of the package though.

By the way, I also have a shaving brush, a condy and a flower anemone that magically appeared in part 2. What a huge bonus!! TBS not only delivers what they promise but much, much more! I will recommend them to anyone who is setting up a reef aquarium. Even so, I would buy again without the extras, this stuff is awesome!

P.S. Anyone want to buy a 32" TV? I haven't turned mine on in a week!

HeHe

I got myself one of those giant screen HDTV Plasma TVs for Christmas and it hasn't been on in TWO weeks. It'll be on to watch my Florida Gators murder George Mason though tonight at 6...
