Anyone know where to get Acro Crabs?

I have been looking for sources on-line but can't find any.

Not sure if there are any fellow reeferes out there that breed them and sell them?

Thanks
Keith

There is a kid at a store in NJ that will pluck them off of the acro's and give them to you. They breed in the tanks there so there are tons.

The Fish Tank Store in Clifton. Probably a little far for you.

The acro crab can only be moved WITH the sps coral, the crab will NEVER leave its coral, I read online that if you remove the crab he will die b/c they formed a symbiotic relationship! So basically you have to a sps coral to get the crab, some sps coral dont have them so you have to look close!

The fish tank store, it's a decent store and def worth the ride. WHile you're in clifton visit "absolutely fish"

I'm pretty sure acro crabs can live without an acro. I found one living in my rockwork awhile back..

That is misleading. They will survive as long as you put them back into another SPS colony.

I've actually been to both of those places I'll check em out again, thanks NoSchwag.

I agree the crabs will move from coral to coral and even live in rock. I have seen this behavior in my tank before.

I am supprised no one out there is breeding these little guys as of yet?

Be carefull with little fuzzy teddy bear looking acro crabs. I had one in a wild colony that migrated to a pocilopora and did alot of damage. He would pick at the tissue and caused that coral to rtn.

Not true at all........... I have moved them .........I have found them 10" away from a coral.......I have kept them away from acros for hours during treatments..............During the day if the coral they like is not big enough to provide them with shade from the lights/sun and shelter from prey they WILL stay in the rockwork hidden all day then come back out when it is safe

BTW I have lotsof acro crabs and their numbers grow
