long shot question.

I found a few aiptasia in my sump and was hoping to borrow a file fish to help get rid of them before they make their way into my DT (if they haven't yet). I know where they came from and thought I cleaned them all off the rocks.. apparently I didn't do a very good job cleaning them. oops.

anyway..

I dont and can't own a file fish myself due to being at my limit of fish and it's not completely reef safe.

I will offer frags of zoas or pay a rental fee to borrow one for a few weeks.

or even some proven aiptasia eating shrimp I will happily buy from you

I thought Peppermint shrimp were the better option. Very easy to fin at local pet shops and cheap too. so if you get a few better chances of someone eating aiptasia.

I've bought peppermint shrimps before and they did not touch the aiptasia. I hate to buy them not knowing if it's going to be another miss, unless someone guarantees it will eat them, lol

I've heard they eat aptasia but never got one to eat them either

Sounds like how I normally battle nuisance stuff. Ive yet to find anything that will actually eat all the bad algae or aiptasia from my tank. With aiptasia manual methods seem to work best for me. That and just leaving them and writing it off to them just being a part of the system.

Its like crab grass, They look different than the grass but at least its still green. lol

Good luck with the battle

thank you :)

I caved and bought 3 peppermints and Aptasia X. I can at least try to get the big ones and hopefully the peppermints will eat the babies. I am not going to feed the peppermints, starve them a bit first

Karen, I tecently bought a "bonded pair" of Matted Filefish from Diver's Den. As usual, this "bonded pair" won't even look at each other! Can't tell you how many of these stupid "bonded pair" rip-offs I've fallen for, but that's another story.

If you'd like to borrow one, or the pair, you're welcome to do so. I'm pretty much right down Rte 24 from Farmingdale, then north on Jerusalem Ave. Text me at 516-316-2356

George

thank you George! I will be texting you soon. You are not far from me at all!

That sinks about them being "bonded". Maybe they will grow to be bonded over time!
