Picked him up this morning he is going into my quarantine at 1.1sg (LFS was at 1.08)...any advice on these guys?

He is going into my 92 corner, I am going to add a pvc pipe so he has a nice place to crash in the tank. Also working on improving my cover so he can't escape.

I am going to try to feed him frozen mysis. Should I add garlic as I do with fish or not for the eel? Also think I am going to try some frozen krill, any thoughts on this?

Thanks,
Brad

Golden Dwarf Eels eat primarily crustaceans (and have conical teeth). I'd suggest buying a handful of uncooked frozen shrimp at the grocery store and cutting them into small enough pieces.

I'm not sure on the garlic.

Any pics? I've always wanted one but will wait till I setup a new tank. Where did you get him? How much?

hey all, thanks for the comments/feedback...I will try to take a picture soon, he is doing good in my quarantine, it has been about 8 days, I have the SG at 1.10, plan on doing a slight water change tonight...

I have not seen him eat so I may stop by the store tonight and buy some different kinds of food, he has passed on teh krill and mysis I have put in the tank. He is very active lately so I think that means he is hungry.

How long do you suggest I keep him in QT? So far he looks very healthy and my LFS had him in 1.09 already?

G13- I picked him up at Old Town Aquarium for $160, reg. $200, was a 20% off sale.

I wouldn't bother with QT other than to get it to eat. Eels are very disease resistant, I don't think I've ever heard of one having ich. It may not eat for a few weeks, so don't worry yet. I feed mine siversides and at times it will swim up and grab the mysis cubes I toss in the tank.

Pics are in my gallery.

I sort of thought they were hardy enough, but didn't want to take a chance...well maybe he will be in the main tank tonight...I don't want to stress him out anymore than I have to in the QT.
