Anyone locally happen to have some Berghia nudi's?

My hawkfish's breath smells like peppermint! :( The shrimp may still be alive but I haven't seen it lately even looking around the tank at night. Even if it is alive...it isn't doing its job! I have about 6-7 aiptasia growing in my tank now. I thought Joe's juice was working well until they popped back up about 2 weeks later. Some of them I can't reach with the syringe either! :mad2:

I am paranoid about them breaking out in my tank!

Anyone locally breed the berghia nudi's?

I might end up ordering some when it warms up if I can't find anyone who will rent me one out or something! LOL Of course, I'd either have to make an aiptasia farm or sell em off to one of the other members to keep em alive.

What kind of Hawkfish do you have?

I know that my hawk would try to get whatever it could in it's mouth, including very large shrimp! I would worry that your hawk might try and eat them, as my hawk would go after my nudis, brittleworms, etc.

I do know that in the past the was a group buy a while back of berghias, but I don't know remember who got them.

One of the curators at the Oklahoma Aquarium is breeding and selling them. You might want to check on the OMAS forum, or contact siren. I know he knows the guy.

Nix, its a longnose hawkfish. Mine doesn't seem to eat bristleworms or other slow moving inverts. He likes a challenge.

Thanks Travis! I'll look over there and probably give him a PM!

So I got his information and everything, but got to thinking about it more...

Am I crazy for getting something that feeds on something I only have 7 or 8 of? I mean I am sure there are a few aiptasia that aren't visible, but will the nudibranchs be able to find them easily among 60-65 lbs of rock?

I have thought about starting to breed them but then I thought it'd be a hassle with me going back and forth to school and home.

I do have an elegance coral and I have heard rumors its sting can kill em so I might experiment and try that on a couple of them.

I just have this mindset if i don't get rid of the few I have that I will wake up one morning to a tank full of them! lol

Kevin,

It seems I am not the greatest at getting it into their mouths. I have juiced a few of them but they seem to come back after a couple weeks. I'll keep trying though.
