Anyone mod a HOB-1 on JBJ 28g LED?

I am in the process of setting up a jbj 28g led pro. After reading the different skimmer options I picked up a HOB-1. It will be in my bedroom and I wanted powerful yet quiet and did have room for a HOB. However my lid won't open for nothing with it on. I did cut the intake a little as in the previous posts but the output line is still blocking it even with just the elbow on without the T. Before I start cutting stuff has anyone done it before? Does it impede performance?

Myself and many others have run that setup with no issues opening the lid, so not quite sure why you are having problems.

Cutting the return shouldnt cause any issues or decrease skimmer performance though.

Me neither I have seen some other pics but wasn't sure if was the LED hoods. I don't know if I have a newer/older of a model. Pretty sure they are the latest. Can u post a link to a pic of yours?

Being that it's a plastic extension of the body and not a replaceable part I'm kinda sketchy

Thank you, had went through that before buying but after running into this prob did see someone else had had it and cut it. Do you have the pro LED hood? Thinking it may be slightly different and not as easy.
