Anyone notice a huge jump in activity post swap?

I think the Timelimit is also designed such that not everyone's able to grab THE best frag the first time, allowing for next rounders to grab good frags as well. That's what I'm guessing. Say there are 10 highly sought after frags, and 10 people in the first round, all of whom would like those 10 frags. If they had a lot of time, those 10 frags would be gone. But given a short time, maybe 5 of those frags would be left for the next round, and so on. So I think it's designed to both move things along, and to try to save better hidden frags for next rounders to get.

I do remember last year we let people browse around first though, *Shrug*

Raffle numbers could be sorted via something like MS Excel. Just type in a number, select the column, and sort. We could look into that next time.

Vince: we ran out of an entire roll of raffle tickets, so we HAD to get another one. hehe.

Some one should have been checking winning tickets at the pick up area.

I won something, but it was not on the table when I went and looked.

The time limit is designed to make the swap not go on for 12 hours. It has nothing to do with limiting anyones ability to find a frag. The first round is longer that the next rounds. Its not shopping, its a swap! :D

A preview is a good idea!

we were checking all the tickets, some of the numbers shown were probably typo's or some other mistake, but we had 3 people checking winning numbers at the raffle items.

This was my first swap. Turned out pretty good. Only complaint was/is no time to browse frags allowed. I understand the concept behind it and all. But i think that it was also unfair that other pple (workers) knew exactly where somethings were and picked it up right when the first group walked in. I believe that if there is no browsing allowed, it should have been the same for everyone. Just my .02 but again. it was a blast to meet and trade frags. o yes and i liked how the rare was mixed into the non rares too... it gave others the chance to find a rare...

People didn't preview as they dropped off frags? That's how we've done it before.

Yeah, yeah, so I was late and didn't see how it went :)

Oh, you want corals for that frag tank? :)

That happened to me last year. Uh, the missing coral part. Not the winning the grand prize part :)

yeah strange how the lure of freestuff brings people out of the woodwork ;)

Wait a month or two it'll die back down :)

Maybe not so much about free stuff, but excitement and followup discussion about the swap, corals, thank you's, ID requests, husbandry, etc.

All good stuff, and no reason we have to let the reef and prop talk die down either :)

Now people can post progress pics and all kinds of stuff :)

Vince we did have numerical tickets, problem is that big roll ran out! In hindsight maybe on huge event days a new roll should be used, but eh... it wasn't that bad.

I agree with the font size too, I would like to see those numbers from across the room :) Numerical ordering would be good, and some talk has been made to an easy way to do it. But as mentioned this was a last minute deal with the projector, and I think it was a great plan!

Preview time most likely will be implimented next swap, I'm not sure why it wasn't done, most likely so there weren't a bunch of people walking around etc. Probably would be best to setup a set number of people and give them say 5-10 minutes before kicking them out and letting the next group.

the only complaint i had was that raffle # should've been near the raffle items. not near the swap entrance. that all. it got a little busy there. other then that it was a well oiled machine. i got a few minutes to look over things when i first got there. but i was pleasantly surprised when my wife picked a sunset monti on her second pick and she has no idea about anything.

but to appease people maybe we do a 2 minute search round for every group before the swap starts. you know. R for 2 then A for 2 and so on and when we are done with that the swap begins. i really don't think people should have time to map out there route since it's a swap and half the fun is not knowing what your getting.

my .02 cents. i enjoyed it. food was good. people were nice. weather sucked but you can't help that.:)

Chris

Yeah about the raffle #'s, I though I've won a couple, but those #'s weren't actual winners - just typo's.

I myself only got a 3 frags out of the whole thing and one from Eileen - which I still owe her. Too busy socializing and helping out before and after on the frag tables/clean up. Which was  by the way.

I was hoping I can grab some millies - But Ed grabbed them before I did.

Eileen (if you see this) let me know when would be a good time to drop off the frag to you.

We should have another end of year swap. :D

Well Chris, I remember last year when people were browsing after dropping stuff off, right before the swap started we mixed some bags and containers around on the table, especially when someone looked a little too much like they were placing a particular coral in between a bunch of others to hide them :)

Norman: I think the reason people didn't view while dropping off was that people were dropping their corals off at the swap entrance, and then runners, Alvin, Bonnie, Charles, Others (sorry I don't recall the "Other's names :)) were putting them on the correct tables.

The table organizing or frag routing was carried over from last year's swap. But people did wander about the tables browsing the goodies on their own previously.

Haha.. "Pick this one! (because some day I'll ask you to frag me some).

j/k

:)

Well that explains why he didn't point out any for me...he didn't want to drive 4 hours to come get a frag of it!
