Anyone performing "Houskeeping"?

I recently got a nice size pagoda coral, its doing well all the polyps come out very big during the day. Due to the shelf shape of the piece i find myself regularly using a air tube filled with water to blow debris from between the polyps like every other day. Does anyone else blow silt or debris off there corals like i do? Is this considered usual maintence?

I have to blow sand and detritus off of my echinos after every water change. I use my turkey baster though. Definitely necessary so I don't get dead spots where the debris settles.

I also use a turkey baster to clean off the corals every now and then and create a little storm from debris on the rocks

Dont mount it flat, mount it at an angle. Things won't settle on it.

Zoo colonies are very important to blast with the turkey baster... eww the mess that comes out of there
