Anyone recognize this (Anthias)?

just showed up, was not there a few days ago. could it be an injury (perhaps from another anthias or from a butterfly)? is it some kind of an infection? no other fish in tank are showing similar symptoms. everybody else looks great.

Hard to tell, but my 1st guess would be lymphocitis. This is a viral condition, it often resembles cauliflower in texture. There is no cure, but if that's what it is, its harmless and will go away with pristine water and just basic good husbandry practices.
 
thanks. about half of it seemed to slough off and melt away yesterday before my eyes. definitely still there but perhaps is healing? weird. i'll keep an eye on it but will assume / hope it will go away on its own.
