Anyone run a dehumidifier?

Since my tank is in the basement and the temperatures we are getting lately out side. Plus because of the warmer temperatures, of course they house furness has not been running. It has gotten very humid in my basement. I guess with the warmer temperatures, the ground is warming up and probable the basement walls are sweating. Making it so humid in the house.

I borrowed a dehumidifier from a friend. I have it running two hours on and two hours off. I can not believe how much moisture it is trapping. I'm getting probable more then two gallons out of it a day.

The other thing I can't explain. I was thinking by running a dehumidifier. It would just suck all the water out of the tank. Normally I have to top off my tank with three gallons of RODI. The two days I have been running this thing. I only had to add two gallons.

Just wanted to ask if any other person was running one and what is their thoughts. I may have to buy one of these things.

I run one because my tank is in the basement also. I have the biggest one Walmart sells. I bought it a few years ago when I still shopped at Walmart. I have to empty it every few days. I bought it because of my guns and ammo. Now with the tank in the basement it does run more often. I think it's wise to run one even if you don't have a tank.

My entire system is roughly 400 gallons and is also in the basement. I keep my tank water temperature at approximately 80 degrees the worst is from Home Depot and is one of the bigger as they stock. Has a pump that will empty the bucket when full. Mine runs darn near constant right now. Something to think about, a dehumidifier also puts heat into the air. Heat causes more moisture loss. Which in turn means the humidifiers runs longer. A vicious cycle.

I'm running a frigidaire 70 pint/day unit on continuous high with my 300 gallon stock tank and 120 SPS tank in the back room. Probably pulling 4-5 gallons per day as I've measured every day for about 3 weeks now. I have it going down the drain directly now, don't want a repeat of a few years ago with rusty tools and shrooms growing out of the water on strange things.

It occasionally it gets humid in my basement but never unbearable I dont think. Im sure Jill would say something if it got uncomfortable. Ive considered buying one but once I bought a Hygrometer my humidity never got over 60% so I didnt worry about it. My humidity is 50% right now.
