anyone run an octopus skimmer?

im thinking of getting one of these and doing the gate valve mod, just wondering if anyone had any first hand experience with one

No experience but it seems to be a solid needle wheel skimmer.
Depending on how I upgrade the 20 I'll probably end up with a reef octopus hush Jim.

Is this for your 55 and do you have a sump?
The super skimmer is a decent skimmer for it's price. I looked at both, really didn't want a sump, and decided the octopus was a better skimmer for the money. Even though I'll need a sump. It's also basically an ASM which I'm use to and like.
If your looking for a hob imo I'd go with the super skimmer or a turbo floater.

i have a cpr bak pak right now and its pretty much a pos and i was going to buy an overflow box and build a sump

Come on Amy. I am sure Jim could order you a nice ASM or even better a H&S!

I have never even seen an octopus in person but it looks like a good product for the money. Especially if you don't mind a little mod work.

LOL you know I'm too cheap to spring for an H&S. I hear you're happy with your's though.
I'll be working on getting the octopus from Jim if I go that route. I also may say screw it and hang a super skimmer on it
