Anyone running 60" T5HO

Anyone running 60" T5HO lights only over their aquariums? If so how many, and what size tank? Pics would be great also.

Am looking at setting up a 300 Gal 72"x36"x27". Was thinking about putting 60" 12x80w Icecap SLR retros on it. Would that be enough for a reef tank? Mainly softies, with a few LPS & SPS later down the road.

Thanks

I'm running a 6x60" t5 setup on my 125g. It allows me to keep anything anywhere with good growth. Its 4-60" tek reflectors in the middle and 2-60" IC reflectors i bonded together to make on the ends. I overdrive them with 2xIC660's. Only thing i don't care for on the setup is the canopy is tall so i had to build a light holder and use chain to hold it up. I don't have many pics though. I would overdrive those lamp's as you have a deep tank and if you do go with sps i'd keep them towards the middle or top.

I'm running two sets of four 36" T5 HO's on my 215, end to end, because I get more wattage from 8 36's than I would from four 72" bulbs. I bought four retro kits from Hellolights.com, mounted them to 1x4's, then mounted them into the canopy. I'm keeping LPS, softies, and I've just recently added my first SPS (a monti cap), and its doing really well so far. I like the T5's because they don't get so hot and don't use nearly as much electricity. BTW, my tank is 72x24x29 and I put the monti cap on top of my rockwork.

I ran 2 60" T5 HOs and 2 48" VHOs over my 110 (72x18x19.5). The T5s had a big single crappy reflector and the VHO's had nothing. Kept lots of softies and LPS, zoas and clams with great growth.
