Hello all. I was originally running an icecap gyre 3k in my 90 gallon tank. One day, one side of the pump stopped working. I contacted coralvue and tried replacement parts with negative results. In the meantime, I needed a pump for my tank and I considered the maxspect gyre, but was a little leery after my icecap (with parts/technology licensed from maxspect) so I went with an ecotech MP40.
I have been beyond happy with the MP40 and am considering adding another with a reef link down the road. While I was troubleshooting my icecap gyre with customer service, they determined my problem to be a bad motor and sent me a brand new replacement. I have yet to put it in my tank, but most likely will. The question I have is, does anyone else use a gyre and mp40 style (mp10, mp60 etc) in the same tank? What settings do you run each on?
I think I would have great flow running both, but I'm not sure what I should run them on since they won't be in sync. I'm also wondering if I should even bother with the gyre and just run the mp40 alone until I get another with the reef link. I have excellent flow right now with just the one mp40 and don't know if the gyre would be too much at this point. Thoughts?
