Anybody using these? I read many negative reviews, but I have used my icecap gyre for years in my 40g mixed reef with great success. If i had not dropped the controller and broke it, I would still be using it. Need new powerheads in my 120g... these new jebao powerheads are complete junk.

Are these new models really that crappy and having this many failures?

I tried the Jebao gyre because I was always happy with their powerheads but, didn’t like the gyre. I got a used icecap gyre in a lot of Hydros equipment I bought and can’t seem to get it working.

That said, I know quite a few people who have used various brands of gyre pumps and did not like any of them.

Thats sad, I really was looking forward to trying these out. Have to find a replacement set for my current MOW-9 Jebao pumps. They have been nothing but issue's. Have gone thru 4 sets of them and they still dont work properly. Never before have I had this many issue's with Jebao product's.

I’m really shocked you’re having so much trouble with those Jebao’s. I’ve had nothing but good luck with that style of Jebao (knock on wood).

The new controller style is crap. I too have had nothing but great luck with them in the past, but this new version is absolutely terrible. They refuse to sync together and only work half the time. Also had one controller die in a few months of use.

That’s a shame. They’ve always had a good price point and, as you said, prior models have been very reliable.

Hopefully the SOWs are good. I have 2 new ones for the upgrade.

I still have a pair of SOW's running currently in my 40g. Had a set in my last 90g tank also for a few years before selling it. No issue's with those for me.
