anyone seen this guy at a LFS locally? Harlequin

I had seem it at big al's 6 - 8 weeks ago. I am sure they would get it again or you can ask them if they can order it for you.

Good Luck!
Gary

awesome! im 2 minutes from there from my job. i hope they have one!

andrea, yea thats the reason for getting it, i have a huge population of asterina starfish, i read they are known to be zoo predators. i havent had a problem yet, but i dont want to take the chance anymore. my 30 gallon im going to make it entirely zoos and rics.

Jaymie, if they are the little asterinas, I have actually found them ontop of zoa polyps, like a little hood, at first I couldn't figure out what it was, when I took the colony out, I pealed them off with a tooth pick and they came right off. No doubt that they could cause harm.

yea! those are the ones. i sure hope this new shrimp has a big appetite :) im overrun by them in my 30 gal, so hoping i dont have to let him go for a while, there such cool looking shrimp.

For the long term survival of this shrimp. You will need to set up a small tank to raise the starfish. That way when he eats all the astrina in the main tank you can feed the ones you are raising to keep him alive. Or you can give him to somebody that has the same problem.

Are asterina's the ones that seem to be missing a limp? odd shape little star fish! I found one the other day in my 210, are they sps predators as well?

Starfish? 30 Jun 2005
I have just recently started a SW tank. I had put in one piece of live rock in a week ago. Today I noticed this grey thing with seven arms (i think). Is this a starfish and do I have to worry about it? what does it eat? Thanks (Hi Julie. Looking at the picture, it appears to be a hitchhiking Asterina starfish. They are generally harmless algae eaters although some do eat corals. Do a search for "Asterina" or see this URL http://www.wetwebmedia.com/asterinafaqs.htm . Good luck on your new setup and keep us posted on the progress. Cheers - Ted)
Sorry I forgot to add a pic of the starfish thingy.

The picture doesn't work. Look on the page.
