Anyone selling a chiller?

Fairly new 30 gal. just looking to see if anyone is trying to sell a chiller before I go out and buy one.

Dang, I am almost certain that I posted here before I left 'work' today. My suggestion was to head out to Pet Box and brab a chiller from there. I know, I usually hate buying just about anything from them, however with the yen rate being as good as it is, the cost of shipping a chiller to us, and all of that, it would probably be worth it just to go get one from there.

want to say it was Sangogo that helped me find a chiller online(japan). your definatly going to have to get one from this side of the ocean due to shipping costs and all that good stuff. but you can find some good deals on the internet over here.. just need a japanese person to help you order it.

I have a small ciller that I used on my 55 gal once....Stateside version...don't have any spec with me at work though....
I bought my GNX 400 from petbox Chatan, from Megumi-san. She is awesome adn speaks English...I walked in when they were having a special though...jumped on it like it was a grenade. If all else fails drop me a line - its just sitting there...waiting to cool out somewhere )

Thanks for the thought but i just got back from petbox with a chiller myself. A day late and a dollar short as always.

o worries man, You got the better deal. I had a prob with my (operator mulfunction actually - not knowing it though) went to Petbox and they got right on the phone with the dealer, right there and troubleshot the darm thing for me. I had it too cold; coils froze, no water going thru, water got hot, I thought it broke. Turned it off fir a few hours (12hrs) and POW kicked right in and on right away....
Good call on the new unit...

Kinda funny talking about the chiller now. I got a pacific coast CL280 that I plan to revamp. I have a friend that is an HVAC expert and he recommended changing the R134A freon out for R12. As many of us know R12 is hard to get in the states and is a ozone depleting substance thus the challenge to find but it works much better than 134. Word is that you can pick it up locally here in okinawa and it's not that spendy. I am going to get a few cans and go ahead and swap it out to see what happens. I might make a soso chiller good..

We will see what happens. I might make a thread out of it with some pics so everyone can see what you have to do. It sounds pretty simple and some parts are required beside freon but then again, an HVAC Mechanic is doing the work on it for me.

Let me know how it works out. I am having a hell of a time with my chiller and my location. It is working 24-7 just to keep my 150 gal setup at 26C - usually about 27ish. I have mixed emotions - kinda like the enviromentalist running a fireplace in there home to keep warm; marathon runner who smokes cigerettes....but I AM in Rome (okinawa actually) and R12 seems readily availbale. I also might want to get with you and your Mechanic later to see if I can have him rig a setup like the chiller barrel rig that sidewinder770 and reefmaiden have on the TOTM for Jun.....I can get a 2nd hand split AC unit form those 2nd hand stores all over the Isand and I am talking to the company in New York about getting a barrel shipped out here. Of course, it will take time, but if Sidewinder and Reefmaiden took 8-9 months...I can wait too.

I looked at the barrel chiller and wouldn't mind doing that myself. Just have to come up with the funds to do it. Still haven't don the freon swap yet. Been pretty busy lately and no time to do it yet.
