Wellllllllllll, I suppose I have to bump this up.
The nano idea did NOT go as planned, as unfortunate as that sounds. I don't know, my Dad convinced me. He said he would help me pay for stuff, come my birthday (Monday

), and that the setup was fine. The more I look at it, the more I realize. It is fine, I just have to work with what I've got. I realized that mid-September. So I've worked.
Summary of what I've done:
I've cooked all the rocks, and I'm putting them back into the tank tomorrow. So guess what? NO MORE VALONIA!! At all! There is no nuisance algae whatsoever left on the rocks, and the coralline growth was not affected...some rocks are completely purple! This may be because no algae is covering it up now...but anyways, rock cooking really does work. I didn't even really do it as properly as possible and it still worked! I recommend it to anyone. Over this cooking time period, I've lowered my photoperiod, and also lowered Ca, to slow the growth of my corals. I did this once my Green Slimer started encrusting onto the eggcrate rack a week after it had been on it! I figured it would be easier to let it encrust when I put the rocks back in, so most corals have been moved around frequently, so they can't establish a good hold. I know it's bad, but it will be all done tomorrow.
I've got those pendants, still been too lazy/busy with school to hang them with my Dad...he works a lot and doesn't live at the tank house. So we are going to hang them this weekend or next weekend, he promised because of my birthday. I've also ordered a Tunze 6100, because CTARS had a sweet Tunze group buy. Should arrive at the end of December. I ordered the 7095 with the money I make at
www.findamentals.com , and once I make the amount of money that is the price of the 7095, my boss is shipping it right out. Then when I save a bit more, after this xmas break (I have my bday, Hanukkah, AND Christmas

), I'll get another 6100 and be completely set for flow. I just added about 5" of sand, 2" of which was LS from a generous friend's tank, FOR FREE!! So now I have a 6" DSB in the main tank, already showing signs of life in the dead layer after just a week. I'm going to use one of the 40g tubs I have as a refugium, which will be lit by my IceCap430. Well, maybe. If I setup a vivarium at my Dad's, the IceCap will be used there, and I will use a LOA light over the fuge.
Ummmm, still the same number of fish (minus one until tomorrow), no different there. I wanted to wait until I put the rocks back in to add fish, to minimize stress. One of the clownfish died, she got stuck on the intake of a pump while sleeping...the PH was stupidly placed next to the anthelia. So the male has become a female, she's about 2" now, I'd say. Larry is around 4". Their growth hasn't been as fast as before, because of school, I'm not feeding once or twice a day (I have to go to my Dad's
sometime). I'm getting a new clown for my birthday tomorrow, after I put the rocks back in. I GUARANTEE PICS TOMORROW!! Guarantee it.
Hmm what else is new...well, CTARS is having one of our best meetings on Dec. 11th, so one of my bday presents is a FISH TANK SHOPPING SPREE!!! My family wanted it for this weekend, but I convinced them to hold off until the meeting. I'm so excited. They are getting in a big shipment of clams, so I hope to pick one up there, and maybe a wrasse.
That's basically it...hopefully this thread can get going again!
