Anyone up for another 135 Thread?

I will most likely be getting them drilled this week, and ordering the pendants in the next few days. My Dad got lazy before I went on vacation, and we didn't order them yet  Once they are ordered, I can give the canopy to Karen, and I will get the stand. Then plumbing, and it's done.

Hey T-squad. I have the stand for you. I also can give you the 55 if you want it. Now I have questions. Why would I get micro bubbles from my sump pump. Makes the tank look cloudy. And how do I stop them.

Microbubbles can come from a lot of things. Most often they are from pipe connections that aren't *completely* sealed. They are watertight, but air seeps in. You can cover them up sequentially to determine which connection it is, and then seal it more. Also, if there is a lot of flow in the sump, the baffles may not be able to take that much flow. Try cutting down the flow into the sump...don't know how to do that though, do a search. Also, new systems can have microbubbles just due to the pipes being new. I had a lot of microbubbles when mine was first setup, but the pipes slimed up, and I have hardly any microbubbles anymore.

PS - I would like that 55 please :) That will be my vivarium.

hey man your lucky while i was out of town my gfi tripped and my mom thought all the fishies were just taking an extra long nap... god she still fed though and my bioballs died oh what a fiasco, but now i've got a sump/fuge and its all good

The pendants have officially been ordered. They should arrive sometime next week.

I got a pair of Skunks on Friday. The first day, they were both hiding. Then Saturday morning before I left for the weekend, one was out, and ate, the other was hiding and was eating though. Now both are out, and eating. They are following each other around like normal juvenile clowns. I like them :)

O,man well as you know ive been gone for a while now,why you may ask, because this is the end of my third week of school and i have had like 10x more home work then last year,so i was just checking back in and letting you know im still alive :)

Man I haven't even started school and your already done with three weeks wow. Anyway I like the skunks, are they the pink ones or they have orange too don't they.

I think the Skunks are beginning to pair up. The one that is slightly larger (has a bigger "hump" on its back) has nudged/nipped the smaller on several occasions, and the smaller has shaken/convulsed and gone on it's side. I think from what I've read this is what they do?

I don't know about that I haven't really read much about them doing that. I think that I would be concerned but it sounds like the bigger one will be the male correct or would it be the female. I don't know if I've got them switched or not, I thought that the bigger one was the male and the little one was the female. My brain is fried from doing this summer project for shcool which starts in 2 days :sad1: :sad1:

The bigger is the female. I read this in the Anemone & Clownfish forum, and also asked a few other reefers...they all say it's the start of pairing. I should begin updating with the nano setup within the next two weeks.

Some bad news guys.

Larry may have to be banished. He decided that my twice a day feedings aren't enough, and enjoys nipping at my xenia. It has pretty much stopped growing due to this, and my fuge will consist of xenia/anthelia. If Larry keeps eating it, the fuge won't work. Any tips?

The pendants should come after this weekend sometime, and I'm getting a nice stand for $60. I want this setup to be nice.

My acro is browning out. I guess I'm not ready for ultimate SPS yet. I'll wait until the super system is up to try again. The beige monti is encrusting again, and the purple monti is doing great. The Frogspawn is no longer bleached, and the anthelia is still growing like a weed. I think my clowns may start hosting it. They swim around it, and last night I went to check, and a lot of the polyps on the anthelia were disturbed/shrunken, so maybe one of the clowns tested it out. Don't know.

Oh well. Everything is going great except for stupid Larry and the acro. Larry is growing though. He's about 3.5" now.

Wellllllllllll, I suppose I have to bump this up.

The nano idea did NOT go as planned, as unfortunate as that sounds. I don't know, my Dad convinced me. He said he would help me pay for stuff, come my birthday (Monday :D:D:D), and that the setup was fine. The more I look at it, the more I realize. It is fine, I just have to work with what I've got. I realized that mid-September. So I've worked.

Summary of what I've done:

I've cooked all the rocks, and I'm putting them back into the tank tomorrow. So guess what? NO MORE VALONIA!! At all! There is no nuisance algae whatsoever left on the rocks, and the coralline growth was not affected...some rocks are completely purple! This may be because no algae is covering it up now...but anyways, rock cooking really does work. I didn't even really do it as properly as possible and it still worked! I recommend it to anyone. Over this cooking time period, I've lowered my photoperiod, and also lowered Ca, to slow the growth of my corals. I did this once my Green Slimer started encrusting onto the eggcrate rack a week after it had been on it! I figured it would be easier to let it encrust when I put the rocks back in, so most corals have been moved around frequently, so they can't establish a good hold. I know it's bad, but it will be all done tomorrow.

I've got those pendants, still been too lazy/busy with school to hang them with my Dad...he works a lot and doesn't live at the tank house. So we are going to hang them this weekend or next weekend, he promised because of my birthday. I've also ordered a Tunze 6100, because CTARS had a sweet Tunze group buy. Should arrive at the end of December. I ordered the 7095 with the money I make at www.findamentals.com , and once I make the amount of money that is the price of the 7095, my boss is shipping it right out. Then when I save a bit more, after this xmas break (I have my bday, Hanukkah, AND Christmas :D), I'll get another 6100 and be completely set for flow. I just added about 5" of sand, 2" of which was LS from a generous friend's tank, FOR FREE!! So now I have a 6" DSB in the main tank, already showing signs of life in the dead layer after just a week. I'm going to use one of the 40g tubs I have as a refugium, which will be lit by my IceCap430. Well, maybe. If I setup a vivarium at my Dad's, the IceCap will be used there, and I will use a LOA light over the fuge.

Ummmm, still the same number of fish (minus one until tomorrow), no different there. I wanted to wait until I put the rocks back in to add fish, to minimize stress. One of the clownfish died, she got stuck on the intake of a pump while sleeping...the PH was stupidly placed next to the anthelia. So the male has become a female, she's about 2" now, I'd say. Larry is around 4". Their growth hasn't been as fast as before, because of school, I'm not feeding once or twice a day (I have to go to my Dad's sometime). I'm getting a new clown for my birthday tomorrow, after I put the rocks back in. I GUARANTEE PICS TOMORROW!! Guarantee it.

Hmm what else is new...well, CTARS is having one of our best meetings on Dec. 11th, so one of my bday presents is a FISH TANK SHOPPING SPREE!!! My family wanted it for this weekend, but I convinced them to hold off until the meeting. I'm so excited. They are getting in a big shipment of clams, so I hope to pick one up there, and maybe a wrasse.

That's basically it...hopefully this thread can get going again!

How's your RO/DI filter from filterdirect working? I'm needing to replace mine and think I might go with one from him.

Ank leaks or anything? Also how do you have it plumbed to your water source? are you using a hose or faucet adapter?

Thanks
Lee

It's great. Still getting 0 TDS from it. Haven't replaced anything. I have it plumbed with the faucet adapter in my basement. I'll get some pics of the setup tomorrow, I have it plumbed through the wall.

thanks... Ive been hearing good things about them... and for about $120 sounds like a good deal..... I just hope it lasts longer than my current one. It leaks everywhere and is only getting 35ppm
