OK, first off, thanks Jason you got me going on this idea! I am hoping to upgrade my 65 to a 90 sometime soon. I am going to be in the market for a used 90 drilled tank, and stand so kinda curious if anyone will be needing to get rid of one soon. In process of selling my reptile stand and once I do will be in the market. Hope someone will be upgrading so I can too ;)

its what she can talk her man into :-D come to the dark side! :-D i have one for sale also, but its not drilled. i have overflows and sump though. :-D ill give you good deal

ha..he may shoot me if i brought home one that big. not to mention living on the street from bankrupcy..ha. i really want to get it drilled, just like the look so much better. will keep looking, have to sell my reptile stand first anyway so might end up being awhile.

how hard is it to make the tank drilled and make some sort of overflow box for it? if its not too hard might be able to work something out with an undrilled one...i'm not very crafty tho.

I just took mine to a glass shop and had them drill it. Its not really something people can just do, they use a special diamond bit that tend to run in the $150, so the holes tend to run around 20-40 a piece depending on the size. I'll have my 90 gallon tank/stand/canopy up for sale sometime around/after christmas but its not drilled either.

once you get it drilled what to you use to hide the plumbing? do companies sell the black panels for overflow say corner or back? thanks

I imagine there are companys that do, and if not go to your LFS and get a quote for whatever size you want in black acrylic, most LFSs have an acrylic worker person they go through that should be able to something for you.

Here is what I did with my 44g, do keep in mind mine is a bit of a plumbing nightmare due to the fact that I have a pump on there thats pushing enough gph to power my whole system without closed loops or powerheads and because of that I needed/wanted 2 returns and a larger drain.

This is really a plumbing shot more than anything else but it shows how I have the system setup

Because of the way the tank sits I actually don't see my sump or the large pipe coming down, the tank looks a bit different now entirely infact but once again just an idea, the 2 return pipes are what I see of the pluming on the outside of the tank and they are covered up pretty much by rock. my drain is setup and as large as it is inside and outside of the tank once again because of the amount of flow it needs to drain so this can be done a lot cleaner. Its in my room and me being me I wasn't looking for pretty on this tank so much as functional

I'm really happy with it and there are ways to make it less noticable if you are going to use a smaller pump. My drain line is so huge because I'm pushing 2000gph through it and needed to do a siphon drain with a large through way.

there is a really cheap one in tampa forum - i hate to tell you to not buy mine, but thats a good deal! might be able to get it for 125 or something if i read it right

Marcye at Sea in the City had the name of someone that drilled tanks. We had 2 done by him. He came to the house too. I can't remember how much he charged but it wasn't that bad. I'm not sure if she still has the number but you can always ask. :)

I may be selling my 120 All Glass reef ready with black stand in a month or two (at most), as I am upgrading. Let me know if you're interested. It has been in service since 6-05, with no problems at all.

We'll be selling our 72 bow setup in the next 6 months. Maybe not as big as you wanted, but it's a nice setup. I'm going back into a big tank.

markandkristen--yea i'm trying to work that out, not sure how i will be able to go and get it since its in tampa...no access to a truck...its a great deal so hoping i can figure that one out

If you're still interested in trying to drill it yourself, it's really not too difficult. More nerve-wracking than anything else. I just drilled my 120 following the directions in this thread and ordered the bits online from this shop for about $20 including shipping.

My brother is seling his 90 gal set up because he is going to be moving, not sure of a price though. PM me if your interested
=)
