i have it in my 70g and its hidden behind the LR. it gets enough flow to pass through it and it is healthy and so is my non-carbon filtering tank. LR (130#) and LS (2-5"DSB) and a (Remora) protien skimmer. its about round as a softball and 12" tall. my tang eats a little every one in a while and it keeps growing. just keep tangling it together. zero nitrites, nitrates and ammonia since original set-up cycle. REEF-ON!!!
live inhabitants: one Foxface=4", one yellow tang=4", 2 perkula=2", one fire goby=2.5", 5 mexican turbo, 5 nasserius, 10 cerriths, 5 astrea, 3 blue legged hermits, tons of copepods, ampods, and worms. REEF-ON!!!
I had chaeto growing on a rock in a nano I once had setup. It grow and helps with keeping nitrates down. Just make sure you have the means to export it. If your tank or other fish don't keep it in check, you'll have to export it manually. In my nano, I only have a clown fish, so monthly I had to remove that rock and pull of the macro with tweezers. If I hadn't done this, it would have taken over my tank.

The problem I had was that it would grow into the rock and was difficult to get it all. It would then spread to other rocks and behind the rock and places I wouldn't reach.
My current setup is sumpless. I keep chaeto in the main tank, but I keep it clipped to a feeder clip. The fish can eat and I can remove what I want easily.
i have a clump of it in my 75 gallon that i think looks pretty cool, also, some Calurpa prolifera (the grassy looking one) which grows on the bottom like a grass bed on my DSB and some on the top in the back. i think the plants in the current give the reef a reall natural look and they certainly do a great job of keeping everything in check. i also have a bunch in my fuge, but it ussually looks better in the main display for some reason ( i think the extra flow.) if you want some of either, LMK. the grassy calurpa i got from the aquarist at the shedd while working there and i havent seen it elsewhere.
