anyone uses drift wood in in your tank

I am moving fish into a bigger tank, 115, in this weekend. There are a few pices of drift wood in this tank that I use for fresh water fish. I don't have a lot of life rock. So, I am thinking about keeping those drift wood in the tank. Is it a bad idea?

The drift wood will pull the pH down. I use it in my Discus tank to maintain a low pH. I'm not ready to say it is a bad idea, but I would not say it is a good idea. I think you will be constantly battling your pH if you use the drift wood.

My first thoughts on it would be how out of place and unnatural it would look.

Another thing to consider: Have you ever use ICH medication (or other medication) to treated the tank that had the drift wood? If you have, you will have copper leeching back out. Copper is a no-no for reef tank.

Or anything else the FW tank may have been treated with or experienced while it was up for that matter.

I bet all the tannins in the driftwood would make the skimmer go nuts.

drift wood for fw tank only. especially if you are keeping discus. It will make water softer and ph lower. def good water for discus . but its no place for sw. driftwood in saltwater tank. it is unnature like justin said.
