Anyone using a kold-steril unit?

Am fighting some cyano in the tank and wondering if it has to do with the fact that I am using a kold-steril unit as opposed to RO/DI. Does anyone know the water quality here or is anyone using kold-steril? Do you think I should switch to ro/di. I hate all the waste water.

I don't even know what a Kold-steril is.
If it is the oppisate of RO/DI then yes I would switch.

Its like a rodi but no waste water. Charlie I would say it is from all your feeding trying to get your fish healthy. What are your po4 levels? On your water what is the tds?

That is what I thought, but I have drastically cut down the feedings over the last week, put in new filters in the kold-steril unit (only 7 months old), changed media, and done a large water change to no avail. Changed flow around as well. Stuff seems to be growing still. I don't have a TDS meter to test. Guess I'll have to look into purchasing one. On my Salifert test, the PO4's are zero and my nitrates are back down to zero. I did switch from IO salt to Seachem Reef salt about 6 weeks back. I am switching back to IO. That is the only thing different other than the extra feedings.

How much water is everyone making right now ?
Or what is your capacity ?

In 4 hours I got 30 gallons. My water is ice cold going into the unit and not warmed up by the house.

It takes about 24 hours for 50 gallons with my 75 gpd unit I just got a 150 gpd unit so we should see what it does.

what about phoshate levels?

Your right I evaporate about 10 gallons a day.

The kold steril can pump out about 50 gallons in 15 minutes.
