Anyone using artificial corals in there FOWLR?

The trick is to keep up with it. I use a few different brushes (firm, plastic bristle kind from Home Depot) to scrub down my LC stuff.
If you do a little light cleaning more often, it's far easier than trying to do a big scrub down every month or so.

Time frame will depend on your tank. Lots of light and low flow will mean the algae gets a better foot hold in the decor.
 
This was created by LC based on my design...same idea: Dock piling, lobster trap and small (movable) sections of rock with coral on them. I wanted them small enough (or to come apart in sections) that I could remove them if I needed to.

Here is the 300g FOWLR I maintain where I work. I usually take the decorations out monthly, bleach them, dechlor and rearrange them.
