Anyone using profilux controller?

Hello everyone,

Looking for someone running the profilux controller. I've outgrown my reefkeeper lite and want to upgrade to something with more options. I really love what the profilux offers but would like to talk to someone who uses one and possibly see it for myself before I dive in. Thank you

Just get a new elite head unit and you dont have to replace everything. You can trade in your lite for a elite.

Just upgrading my head unit would not really solve my problem. There's a whole list of factors why staying with the reefkeeper system just doesn't make sense. The customer service, the quality, the lack of support and updates, the limitations, the technology being very outdated. I have had my RKL system for about 6 years now, and it has yet to fail me. I think it's a great controller, but it's only great for a select few things it does.

I've done the math, and for me to upgrade and get all the features, say a profilux or apex come with, I'm going to spend about $500 on the reefkeeper.

For $700(profilux) or $500(apex), I'm going to have Internet control, tunze control, dimming capabilities and a better overall product, and that's just out the box. Not to mention adding on expansion packs or modules.

For me to upgrade my RKL system to an RKE, I'm looking at $200 for the upgrade, $80 for an ALC, $119 for NET, $129 for tunze control, $80 for an sl2.

Now those are all features the profilux and apex do out the box. Also the last time I checked, you could not control the reefkeeper via the net, only monitor it.

I'm leaning more towards selling my RKL which consist of a head unit, 3 pc4's and an sl1, which I assume is worth around $200 all together. I can just put that towards the purchase of a new system rather then upgrade the RKL.

Mat I haven't use a Profilux my self. I always been a Apex guy, it works really good
easy to use easy to set up and now you can control your vortex and Radions wirelessly with it not to mention that with the new software update coming up soon is going to be even better and easier to use

I think you will be very happy

Hey Jose, are you monitoring conductivity? I'm thinking of adding a pm2 and salinity probe. Also do you have battery back up? I want to use the apex to program my tunzes, but I have a tunze battery back up that won't work with apex, and I know the apex wants to use a UPS. I don't really want to run my whole tank in a power outage, just my powerheads.
