Saw a 3" keyhole angelfish for the first time today at the LFS. I like the way it looks and am considering it for livestock.

i did a search and only a few post about them came up.

anyone like to comment about these dwarf angels?

I have a pair. Don't spend much time around each other, don't mind other fish, and occasionally nip at coral polyps (all types); not sure I would keep them in a smaller reef, as they might be too hard on the corals.

What other fish do you have in your tank? I have mostly peaceful - firefish, flasher wrasses, etc.

I like the looks of these angels.

Well, they are in a pretty big tank w/a large variety of fish - cardinalfish to (very aggressive) terminal dragon wrasses, and everything in between ;). They spend most of the time cruising in and out of live rock, but I probably wouldn't keep them w/aggressive fish in a small tank. They should be fine w/what you have listed.

One thing you need to consider is that they get large -like 7 inches. In a tank suited to angels -lots of rock, lots of hiding places, larger tank. Most angels get along pretty well. Not usually inclined to allow themselves to be picked on and generally not bullies. But when they get really big like this one, aggression might be a concern.
Unfortunately, I don't have any personal experience with them.

I wouldn't expect it to be as reef safe as some other Centropyges. If that's a concern I'd be considering a cherub or cherub pair.

One of, if not the biggest dwarf angel. Up there with the interruptus angel in terms of max size. Keep that in mind if you are looking for a smaller fish. Cool looking fish though, if you have the space I'd go for it.

Almost jumped on one last year. But fell in love with C. bicolor, reef riskiness aside..
They are beautiful and very different looking Centropyge. If I had a FOWL tank, I'd get one. Size also an issue, at the time I had only a 36 gallon tank..

I used to have one, but I had to sell it because it was so agressive. Ripped apart a bicolor dwarf in a few seconds...

any suggestions on how to QT these keyhole angels?

can they handle .5ppm copper well? i've read that some of the dwarf angels are a bit more sensitive to copper than the large ones.

i'd like to do 2 treatments of prazipro and copper.
