Anything special about getting a pair of gobys vs a single one?

I've seen diversden selling a nunber of "pair of gobys and a shrimp" packages. I am looking for a goby/shrimp pair but..is it anything special about getting a pair of them? Also, if I buy them in a LFS not bonded...will they bond regardless of sex or do they need to be bought male and female?

Pair bonding is normally between adults of the opposite sex. The main reason to get a pair is because the behavior will be more interesting... you might even be able to observe spawning.

The easiest way to get a bonded pair is to buy an existing one. If you purchase two juveniles, you have about a 50% chance of bonding when they mature. If you get two males (25%), however, they are likely to fight over territory when they mature.
