Anything that stays tiny enough for a 5G tank?

Hey Reefers,

Our local pet shop has their 5G eco picos on sale (beautiful tanks: http://www.ecoxotic.com/led-aquariums/desktop-aquariums/eco-pico.html)

...and I'm wondering if there are any neat predators I could keep in there that wouldn't outgrow it. Something like an angler or lion would be awesome, but all the ones I know of end up getting way too big. Is there anything I'm not thinking of, or any other ideas out there? Predators preferred.

Like a small wartskin frogfish would fit for awhile im sure.. but.. at 5 gallons, the problem with predator is waste.... so 5 gallons would get soiled quickly.
 
Lol I realise it's small, but it's not THAT small :P There's a lot of cool reef set ups in the nano section of the forums, I'm just looking for something like silentciv pointed out ... However, I'm wondering if anything will STAY that tiny so when we get attached we don't have to give him away when he outgrows the tank ^^
 
thanks for all the replies. I suppose I should of specified, I am looking for fish ideas rather than inverts :)
 
Ya, your only bet is a small goby that isnt known for moving alot.. like a catalina goby (which requires cooler water) or a clown goby.. they just perch.. so if you got a abstract enough peice of rock with lots of perch space.. you would be ok I suppose, a red spot or red stripped goby might stay little enough and immobile enough to do well.. but that is the trick I suppose if you want a fish in a 5G is to get somthing that is immobile and likes to perch.

I agree that I need something that doesn't swim much for a 5g. That's why I was looking for a small breed of lion/frog/angler but it seems that they just don't exist.

bummer, oh well.
 
Options are copy the idea.. you buy a smaller hex.. going to a acrylic place and get them to make a black sheet seperater, and essentially make your own nano that is a tad bigger and hides everything in the tank as such... I mean those tanks are made with 3 peices of acrylic right.. one full back peice, and two dividers so you get a 3 chamber section. Then you buy a lamp and a par38 bulb and you set! Wartskin frogfish heaven! ;) They only need a 20g or so..
 
You mean just essentially make a 20g cube ? Or divide it into three sections ?

I'm not sure I understood you perfectly :)
 
I mean copy the simplicity of what makes those tanks, the clean look of having everything behind the acrylic wall, heaters, pump, filters etc.. Ive seen people do it in a 20G long and just make the last 5" of the tank the wall, and use vynil to hide it and mount a light on that end.. or a 20G hex and they just install the acrylic in the back like one of those tanks. Its your call, but too make those style of tank with the back chamer is clean, easy and looks awesome! those frogfish will do peachy in a 20G
 
that's not a bad idea. I was kinda going at it from the other direction though ... with tank A, what can I find small enough to put in it.

I'll probably just opt to wait around for another opportunity. Thanks though!

Not all of them. Have you checked out Roy's List? It is in the Mantis section, you should read up on it. :D
