Anytone want a rare piece of dry rock?

It weighs around 30 pounds dry, probably double that when wet, so if you bought this at a reef shop it would cost a whole heck of a lot more

IMO...Water would add virtually NOTHING to the weight of this coral, so I think that you are getting a fair price for the piece. Congrats on the sale!

Oh I've lifted dry rock compared to rock which has been in saltwater, and trust me when you buy 100 lb. of live rock your not actually getting 100 lb. Your getting 100 lb. with the saturation of the water in the live rock which is VERY porous.
Sorry, I just can't let this go...saltwater weighs just under 9 lbs, a gallon... so for that rock to DOUBLE in weight, it would have to ABSORB over 3 gallons of water...IMO, your coral could not absorb EVEN 1 quart of water, which is about 2 lbs.

typically when you buy a piece of live rock from a reef shop they take it out of the tank and weigh it immediately, in this case it would hold 3 gallons easily.

:lmao: Now, I realize that you've been kidding, since the first post!
