apex and household applications

Anyone use their apex to control other household applications other than their fish tanks? The ability of this controller seems almost unlimited, including applications around the house.

I can't speak for household, but I'm using one for an industrial pretreatment controller at work to monitor influential and effluent pH from a treatment system. It is controlling adjustment and safety shutoff valves. The email alerts and graphing features are great.

I would have thought some of the tech savvy guys would be controlling lighting, hvac, etc in their homes. I guess not.

There was a previous thread along these lines. One regular here controls his powered window blinds. I also know of a guy who controls the TV and other AC-powered electronics in his kid's room.

I use Z wave for control of a few lights and stuff at my place but IMO wireless is a little more suited for household applications (where the outlets, switches thermostat(s) and locks are replaced). It wasn't really appealing to me to run a USB cable or power cords from the APEX/ EB8's to turn on a lamp or outlet, also there are alot of specialized products out their that are tailored for the home automation market that just make it so cool to use (iPod/Pad or Android apps) and web based controls.
