Apex and the WaterBug WB200

Any tips on how to connect this water sensor to the Apex? I am assuming a connection to the I/O port. (I read the minimal information on Page 45.)

Does "The Shack" have Minidin 8 plugs/cable assemblies?

I see that Neptune offers an I/O Breakout Box, but the web site specifies that the Breakout box only works with the AC3 or ACPro. Will it work with the Apex? (Maybe the website needs to be updated.)

The I/O breakout box will work with the APEX.

That's what I needed to know.

I'll order one today and won't have to screw with soldering wires or a minidin plug. Well worth $40.

When I get the WaterBug wired up to the IO box, will it show up as a module?

I would like to have the Apex sound an audible alarm in the event of water sensed on the fish room floor. If the Apex is expecting a normally open condition and the WaterBug relay closes if it senses water on any of the three sensors, I would like that condition to signal the alarm.

Suggestions? Is anyone else using this process?

Assuming "Alarm" is the Apex "base alarm" and SwitchA1 is the waterbug which you've wired up to the I/O port using a breakout box or a DIY version.

Alarm:
Fallback off
Set off
If SwitchA1 CLOSED Then ON

If you are in close proximity to your Apex and will hear the built in alarm that will work, but I'd suggest wiring up a alarm/siren or old radio(set loud) to a EB8 outlet and turning that on.

The WaterBug 'itself' will not appear as a module but you can create a dummy timer (aka module) that turns on/off based on the state of the switch input connected to the WaterBug.

To signal an alarm you would add something like this into the warning, error or email outlets as you want them to respond:

If Outlet WaterBug = On Then On

For an example you could refer to my webpage and look at how I setup the high sump outlet.
