Apex & Controllable Tunze

I have a Tunze 6105 coming and want to know if the flow will still be controllable from my Apex if I don't get the "2 Channel Apex to Stream Cable"

Thanks

You would be able to turn them on and off via an eb8 outlet etc. But the cable is the method to fully control the pumps.

So, if someone is running them with out an Apex, they can only turn them on/off, and the controllability (30-100% power) is not able to be utilized?

Tunze sells a separate controller for that. If you have the Apex and the cable to connect them (which you can DIY) then the Apex serves the purpose of the separate Tunze controller. The advantage of the Apex is that the Tunze pump control is fully integrated into the rest of the Apex's functions.

ok, that makes more sense.....is the cable a standard Cat 5/Cat 6 cable/Ethernet cable, or is it something different?

It uses a standard RJ45 connector but the other end is a DIN-5 to connect to the Tunze. There are threads on how to DIY one yourself but the Neptune cable is only like $20. IMO the only reason to DIY this one is if the length is a problem.
