Apex display fixed

So I got my display back from Curt and it's working again. I'm not sure what caused it to go black, why I couldn't fix it with the firmware updates like others were able to do, what Curt did to fix it (I did ask!), or how to avoid this happening again (asked that too!). I'm assuming it happened from an improper power cycling. What is the best way to unplug the EBs without causing another issue? Is there some trick to it? What happens if a storm knocks the power out? Is my display going to crash again?

Any insight from the gurus is greatly appreciated!

There was an old firmware issue that was fixed with displays; I'm guessing you may have hit the issue before you had a chance to update the display's firmware. I wouldn't expect you to have any more issues if what was fixed was the firmware in the display since you would have the newer firmware now.

Thanks man! So is it OK to simply pull the plug on the EBs whenever necessary without messing anything up? Is there a proper way to power down or anything?

So the firmware update didn't "fix" broken displays, it was intended to keep displays that were not yet broken from breaking. Explains why upgrading made not difference for me.

It was possible that a display that was in a bad state would be fixed by flashing the display firmware; it depended on how bad the display firware was corrupted.
