Apex Lite and Vortechs

I have the Apex Lite system and I'm thinking of purchasing Vortechs.

1. What would I need to control the Vortechs? A WXM and a VDM module?
2. It seems the Vortechs provide a good deal of control themselves. What advantage is there to controlling the Vortechs from the Apex?

You just need the WXM and wireless vortechs (If you're buying MP40's or 60's new, they're all wireless)

I really like integrating the vortech's feed mode into the Apex's feed timer. I also like having different profiles for the vortech so my flow changes randomly throughout the day

Thanks Kayl. So the advantage of Apex control is support of multiple profiles and feed modes? I'd only have one profile otherwise?

With the Apex, you are able to set it to osc between profiles or change profiles based on time of day. For example, I have my MP10 set to 40% reef crest during the day, and 20% at night. I have a virtual outlet that I can turn on to set the vortech to wave or 100% constant. I also have it set up so the vortech goes into feed mode when the Apex feed timer is on.

It seems kind of trivial, but once you see how nicely it integrates the vortech, you'll love it.
