Apex pm2 question.

My base temp reads different then the temp probe in the pm2

Is this normal? Base 75.8 PM2 77.4 Both probes on same spot.

The reason I have such a concern about this: if the PM2 Temp probe is correct I am fine. Salinity wise.

If the base probe is reading off by that much my real PPT could be .8 or .9 higher. This is significant.

i would use a good quality thermometer to calibrate the temp probes.
i had the same problem till i calibrated themm.

Okay why did I pay 500$ for an un calibrated thermometer?

What do I need to buy to verify this instrument is correct? The large different between them is really quite aggravating.

The probe on the base unit is calibrated already.

The temp probe on the PM2 needs to be calibrated as the PM2 did not include a probe with it. Move the temp probe next to the temp probe on the apex base unit and then set the PM2 temp probe so it matches the apex base temp probe. Then move the PM2 temp probe to where ever you want to.

I've never seen the temp probe of a base unit off by more then .2 using a NIST temperature meter. They are extremely accurate from the factory. If you purchase or use a temp probe that did not come with your base unit then it may be off by a degree or two.

Thanks very much, now that answer make perfect sense.

I can do that now...... Sadly makes my salinity a bit high....
