apex power failure problems

Hi there everyone,

I has a question about my internet setup. I had the worst time initially getting remote access and eventually broke down and emailed Curt (wish I had done it sooner). He had me turn dhcp back on. reboot apex. I then took that IP and entered it into my routers port forwarding. Presto. I was then able to get my game adapter working and am now wireless. I even have a web cam (which is awesome).

Anyway my only problem is when the power goes out. :sad2: I guess upon reset the apex gets a new IP and then I need to go to the display to get the new IP. I repeat curts directions and all is good again. My concern is that if I were to be out of town when a power failure occurred I would be up a creek. I am wondering if I disable the dhcp after everything is working will that fix my issue. Also I gave up on the dydns because I got everything to work without it. Will this come back to haunt me? Thanks:thumbsup:

Long term you're not going to get remote access to work without doing something about your IP addresses changing. You have two to worry about - the Apex and the public side of your router. The Apex can change whenever you reboot and the router will change when your ISP decides to change it (for me that happens about once a week).

So, in my opinion, yes it will come back to haunt you. DHCP will fix the first problem and DynDNS will fix the second. Hundreds of people are doing that with the Apex with long term success.
