Apex smoke detector?

Anyone ever thought about this or know how to do it? I have my sump in the basement with a whole lot of lights and things that could potentially give me cause for alarm (pun intended). I would love to be able to shut everything down in case of emergency. A thought would be to somehow connect from the breaker box to the small light that comes in a bunch of smoke detectors that way when the light goes on the switch is triggered? I don't have enough knowledge of the currents involved to know if it would work without damaging something.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Yeah I kinda think it would be something that would be very useful.

Anyone out there have any thoughts? I can't imagine it would be too hard to do but like I said I don't have the wiring/electrical knowledge necessary. How can we make use of the light built into a smoke detector as a switch to trigger the Apex?

Better ideas are welcome too!
